Our Values
Offering radical access
We delight to make the gospel of Jesus Christ available and understood, not just on Sunday, but throughout the week.
As God made himself accessible in Jesus Christ, we desire to be a community that is proximate, embodying His love where people live, at street level.
Celebrating the image of God
We see God’s likeness in every person, relieved that Jesus didn’t come for the perfect but for the imperfect and broken.
At Storefront Church, if you’re flawed, you fit. Our hope, however, is to be a community of renewal, where people discover their gifts and embrace who God created them to be, so we may honor Him in our lives, and others may come to believe.
Committing to Neighborhood Partnering
As God has given the world his very best, we desire to do the same.
By living at the pace and in the pain of others, Storefront Church hopes to be a valued partner in the conversations of our community, for the glory of God and the betterment of our neighborhood.
Thriving as a Cross-Cultural Community
We desire to see “God’s will be done,” in Chelsea, “as it is in Heaven.”
For Storefront, that means a multi-cultural, multi-generational community living life and worshipping together. As we are knit together and love across differences, we experience God’s greatness beyond our understanding.
What we believe
God
God can be known and desires to know us. He is One, yet mysteriously exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is to be esteemed, adored, and worshiped.
The Bible
We love and look to the Bible as God’s inspired word. The scriptures of the Old and New Testament are life-giving, have been vetted, and we trust them. Not a morality tale, the Bible conveys everything one needs to have a right relationship with God and neighbor.
The Human Condition
Though created in God’s image, mankind has chosen to be its own god. Because of this, we are profoundly beautiful and broken at the same time. Humanity needs a restoration that we cannot achieve on our own.
Jesus, Lord and Savior
As fully God and fully man, Jesus is the “good news” we proclaim. As mediator between God and humanity, he alone restores our estrangement to God and alienation from one another. More so, by his life and work on the cross Jesus redeems our past, renews our present, and restores our future.
The Church
The Church is not a building but a diverse people united in Jesus Christ. Born of the Father’s love, we gather to worship, and are re-oriented as individuals and as a community towards Him, so that we move out in love, to love those around us. As modern people, we affirm the ancient creeds of the historic Christian faith, in particular, the Apostles and Nicene Creeds.
Gospel Implications
We believe the gospel has both personal and cosmic implications. God has come in Christ to redeem mankind and renew all of Creation. Therefore, as followers of Jesus, we are called to live out His work through our work, stand for justice and reconciliation, center the voices of the most vulnerable, and walk along side those who are marginalized and oppressed.
